A model of how our brain works
when we are calm, the emotional center (amygdala)
is connected to and protected by our frontal cortex
when our fight-or-flight-or-freeze response gets triggered
the amygdala sends signals to shut of the frontal cortex from interfering,
we "flip our lids"

I've seen Sarah talk before, and she's very clear, warm, and interesting. The mp3 is quite an informative overview of interpersonal neurobiology. I'm going to start using a new marketing slogan: "pre-frontal cortex rentals". ;)
