Self-esteem and Boundaries

As I've said many times, self-esteem is a verb. You esteem yourself. It does not come from outside you. It's an inside job. It's a choice. Yes, you should have been esteemed first by your parents so you could internalize it. But if that was a haphazard job, you're an adult now and you can choose to do better! Self-esteem relates to boundaries because emotionally you are not dependent on anyone else's opinion of you. You choose to be affected by others thoughts of you, if you take them too seriously. You can have better emotional boundaries if you remember that your self-esteem is your own responsibility. Also, don't let anyone treat you in a way that is less than you deserve. And the amount that you esteem yourself sets the amount you think you deserve. And you deserve the best! But don't take it from me, make your mind up yourself!
